Marsha has been active in the tourism and hospitality industry in Nova Scotia, Atlantic Canada and Canada for more than three decades completing a successful six (6) year tenure as Executive Director of Tourism for Nova Scotia (assistant deputy minister status) in March 2006. Recognized for her strategic thinking, long term planning abilities and her marketing expertise, Marsha was instrumental in Nova Scotia winning two TIAC National Tourism Awards for Excellence in Marketing within a three year period, 2003 and 2005. She has held senior tourism positions in Nova Scotia, Atlantic Canada and Canada.
Marsha Bursey is certified, and has delivered, the Accelerated Market Readiness (AMR) Program, Destination Market Readiness (DMR) Program, Strategic Tourism Enhancement Program (STEP) and the Strategic Tourism for Areas and Regions (STAR) Program throughout Atlantic Canada. She co-authored the Strategic Tourism for Areas and Regions (STAR) Program for ACOA-Tourism Atlantic (2017). She revised for ACOA-Tourism Atlantic, the STEP and STAR Programs (2019) and and revised the AMR Program (2020).
Born in St. John's, Newfoundland, Marsha is a graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland and a long-time resident of Halifax. She holds an APR designation from the Canadian Public Relations Society. Since March 2006, Marsha Pond has been President of her own consulting firm, Broad Reach Strategies Ltd.
